This song and video are frankly ridiculous, and I completely would have forgotten it forever in the treasure troves of childhood media I ingested if it weren't for all this Michael mania going on right now.
It's still so strange that he's gone (this song is strange though too)...I wanna hear what Macauley Culkin has to say Mike being gone.
I want to tribute the obvious on this Friday. The talk of the entire fucking world...the loss of a significant player in my childhood development and musical history. Pop icon... color barrier warrior... dancing genius and the best selling artist in history. Period.
Michael Jackson died yesterday at 2.20pm in Los Angeles at the age of 50. Cut at him all you want.
He was surrounded by controversy. It was probably, definitely, true... If OJ did it then Michael did it too. It does say something about his character. It does not say something about his music and the utterly prolific effect its had on humans.
The point is....as the Reverand Al Sharpton said when he spoke following Michael's death...“Michael Jackson made culture accept a person of color, way before Tiger Woods, way before Oprah Winfrey, way before Barack Obama. Michael did with music what they later did in sports and in politics, and in television. And no controversy will erase the historic impact."
Thank you Reverend...well said.
I cannot help but be genuinely sad about the passing of a truly great artist...the first artist who's death I've actually had feelings about. I think this is quite the sad situation.
...and I always thought Elizabeth Taylor would die before Michael. Just another curve ball of 2009.
Touche 09...touche.
Rest in Peace Michael Jackson

Today I will be posting various MJ vid greats. Starting with this STUNNER from 88.'
Today is a big day for Doublewide. Today... marks my 100th post. That means all of you kind, all of you sad, all of you bored, all of you critical, all of you lovely lovely people have been tickling my fancy by coming here and reading my ridiculous random rants for a minute. So thank you.
Now... back to our regular scheduled programming.
If you haven't heard of MSTRKRFT by now you will soon. Jesse F. Keeler formerly of Death from Above and Al-P from Girlsareshort make up the the electronic duo who hit the scene in 2006 with their first album The Looks. The Toronto combo did some remixes for the likes of Bloc Party, Justice, and Wolfmother to name a few, and in March of this year released their second and lukewarm-ly (you'll grant me the word won't you?) received Fist of God. Kinda a rough name if you ask me.
In either case, the new album features some big names including the likes of John Legend. Here is MSTRKRFT f. JL on David Letterman from a couple nights ago. Thanks to G. Elias for the "hey watch Letterman tonight" heads up!
Did you know...David Letterman was born on April 12, 1947. April 12 eh?
This one makes me go "oooooh!". S.H.I.T.
Firstly good morning. Secondy, I finally saw the Hangover last night so I can be in the loop again. Third, you gotta see this little 8th grader, Aaron Shutway...NAIL a 75 flip shot. Gotta see it to believe it.
I certainly have never seen anything like that before. Just like I'm sure none of you have seen me surfing in South Africa. ALSO! There's a couple things that stand out from this Shutway shot. A. Shutway? That name could be really cool or really...prone to nicknames and namecalling. B. EVERYTHING about the scene in the shot is VERY 8th grade. Kanye is bumping in the background...the kids are literally just walking around the gym...its La Contenta style and shit. Here...do this....watch the video again and choose a differnt junior high kid to look at and just check their reaction. Shutway has officially been thrust into 8th grade stardom. Unfotunately he'll probably burn out after he turns 18, resort to a life of drugs and alcohol, and end up waking-up-in-a-pool-of-vomit, bloated-purple-dead-on-a-toilet....but yeah that Shutway he's a cool kid man.
